From the time that "The Hobbit," the precursor to "The Lord of the Rings" trilogy, was published back in 1937, the books lit up imaginations 'round the world. However, it wasn't until the first book of the trilogy, "The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring," was adapted into a movie in 2001, that the phenomenon truly exploded. Even those with no interest in the books saw the films.

Not only were viewers transported to the mythical world of Middle-earth, but they were also taken along on the quest to destroy the one ring of power. Along the way, characters from all different species, races and walks of life populated our imaginations (and the screen.) There were hobbits, like Frodo and Sam from the Shire, elves, like Arwen and Legolas from Rivendell and Lothlorien, dwarves, like Gimli from Moria, and humans, like Aragorn and Boromir from Gondor and Rohan.
