Every decade is identified throughout history by the events that occurred during that times and the 1980s were no different. It will be remembered as the decade which led to the end of the Cold War, the fall of the Berlin Wall, the Live Aid concert, the Chernobyl Disaster, the first space shuttle lifting off, the dawn of Michael Jackson and Madonna as well as Pacman, the Mullet, Italy winning their first World Cup title and the Rubik's cube. 

When it comes to film, we saw a significant increase in the amount of science fiction movies being created, some of which included E.T. The Extra-Terrestrial, Back to the Future, Ghostbusters, Aliens, Weird Science and The Empire Strikes Back. We also witnessed the popular John Hughes movies featuring the famous "Brat pack actors". Lastly, action movies to first place at the box office during that decade for movies like The Terminator, Die Hard, Scarface, Robocop, Lethal Weapon and the Indiana Jones films.
