All sorts of jobs can be found in the military that suit all sorts of temperaments and skill sets. Indeed, the things that all military personnel need to have in common are, while admittedly very important, actually relatively few in number: discipline, patriotism, the ability to follow (and possibly give) orders, physical fitness and so on. The skills that take a person to the top of the hierarchy, however, are very specific. You need to understand strategy and be a big picture thinker. You need to be a diplomatic person who can manage upward, downward and sideways. Meanwhile, the skills that make a great sniper, a great quartermaster or a great troop leader are also highly varied.

Fortunately, you can figure out where you'd fit in the military without too much guesswork. Just look at how you approach other elements of your life, especially those like hunting that have a lot of overlap in the baseline skills.
